About

My name is Esmee, which also means ‘beloved’. I was born and raised in The Netherlands, but based my ‘chosen home’ in Portugal, on the coast close to Lisbon. Besides being a photographer, I am a sociologist focused on human rights, and a rebirthing breathwork facilitator. I am a creative, social, and adventurous soul, who has a heart for people, self-development, and surfing.

I got my first camera during my teenage years with a simple desire to capture the beauty around me. Since then, I have spent much of my time taking photographs, although it has always remained a hobby. While my early photography mostly focused on nature, as I began to travel more extensively, culture became a significant aspect of my work. Over time, I became increasingly drawn to photographing people. With much of my time invested in shoots, in 2024, I decided it was time to focus part-time on my photography.

Over the years, I developed a distinctive style characterized by an emphasis on emotion, movement, and authenticity. My photos aim to evoke feelings, provoke thought, and showcase the artistry inherent in every subject I capture.
